Agenda

Sep. 4:

Our members begin checking in at the Marriott  Boston Quincy.

Fri., Sep. 5: 10 am:

We carpool to the nearby Adams National Park, and visit the homes of US presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

Sat., Sep.6: 11:00 a.m.-2:30 pm:

We hold our Annual Meeting and Luncheon in the hotel's 7 Masts private dining room. We have a great featured guest speaker, Brian Bixby, of Cambridge, Mass., who will present his research results on the months spent in Boston by 19-year old Aaron Burr, as he joined the Revolutionary troops, preparing to travel to Quebec.

Sun., Sep. 7:

We take the Hop On, Hop Off trolley, with 14 stops in Boston. The 'Hop On, Hop Off Bus' travels around downtown/historic Boston enabling one to hop off at different points of interest and hop back on the bus for the next stop.

Just after, or instead of, a short T ride over to Cambridge can be done to see some of the original Revolutionary War 'barracks' at Harvard, and temporary home(s) to some of the Continental Army generals/officers, including Washington and Benedict Arnold

Mon., Sep. 8:

We visit the sites of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, and have lunch at the historic Colonial Inn, Concord, where 'the first shots of the Revolution were fired'  (including lunch at the lovely and historic Colonial Inn in Concord dating back to 1716).

Tues., Sep. 9:

In the morning: a visit to the Old South Meeting House (where the Boston Tea Party was conjured up), and the Old State House (seat of the Massachusetts General Court from 1713-1798).

In the afternoon, we tour the Otis Gray Harrison House, home to a contemporary of Aaron Burr's, who served as MA Senator from 1817-22, as a member of the Federalist Party. (The house is a fine example of Charles Bulfinch architecture (also architect of the Boston State House and the US Capitol/Dome) and includes furnishings original to the house/family.
